  I've been coming to Kim Su for Dim Sum for as long as I can remember.  The Dim Sum here is very good and priced fairly.  The service is not the best but the food quality makes up for it.
  
  There is almost always a wait so come early if you're looking for Dim Sum.  The Shumai and Har Gow here are spot on every time and one of the best in OC.  
  
  Just wish they had better drink options vs just water or tea for Dim Sum like their competitors.

  This place is never worthy of our TIPS $.
  This review is for their customers service experience...
  
  We just had brunch at Kim Su today and we are so extremely upset because of AUTOMATIC TIPS INCLUDED (party of 6 or more). We found out after we questioned them our bill which the items wrote in Chinese language. We are a party of 6 plus a baby. Our bill was $180 and $25+ tips was added to a total of $208.  We found out today 15%  have been added as tips money to bills which they never told us.
  
  The SERVICE ALWAYS BAD BAD BAD like many times before so tips was something we added on the table at the end of our choice. For this bill the most we would put is about $10 because of either okay/bad service.
  
  This place is never worthy of our Tips. For example ..They never bring us water unless we asked. They never refilled our water unless asked. They never serve customers with smiles. They charge Tea $1 per person (example 1 pot of tea with 6cups =$6). They charge rice also the same (1 pot, 6small bowl eating = $6). Even charging for every little thing with the bad service...They don't deserve 15% or $25 dollars more of our money any day.
  
  This will be the last time we are coming to their restaurant now that they enforced automatic gratuity.
  Everyone needs to know of this and BE SURE CHECK YOUR bills before putting additional tips on table.
  
  WE WILL NOT RETURN ... no matter how good the food is... GO TO SEAFOOD COVE 2 .: the old LONG PHUNG LAU.. for dim sum their service is a little better..

  We never would have stopped here, had we not been with my friend. It was supposed to be a "light breakfast" to start our last day of beer, food, beer, and food. This is my friend's favorite mom-and-pop shop, and he was excited to have us give it a try.
  
  It was just after 10:30 am on a Sunday morning when we arrived. There were a few groups of people hanging out in front of the restaurant, but we were shown to a table right away. The dining room was surprisingly packed. Again, it wasn't even 11 am, but they were almost full of families and groups getting their grind on. It was impressive.
  
  My husband and I basically just sat back and let my friend order things for us to consume. It's always fun when I get to hear him speaking Vietnamese, and his dual-fluency was on full display the entire weekend.
  
  They brought us this wonderfully strong and flavorful house tea, and before we knew it, our little table was piled high with dishes pulled from the carts. I do know we got two different types of dumplings - one pork shumai, two shrimp something. He also got Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, spicy pork, crab balls on sugar cane, shrimp in rice noodles, the absolute best fried tofu ever, baked siopao...and chicken feet.
  
  THIS was our "light breakfast".
  
  I did try the chicken feet - it was a weekend of exploration, after all. They weren't as gnarly as I'd expected them to be - it was like eating chicken skin (if you could block the sight of the toes wiggling in your face); the sauce had a subtle sweet flavor, as well.
  
  Everything was hot and fresh, with really good flavors. The tofu was the star of the meal for sure - it was nuclear hot, but perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. The shrimp in rice paper was difficult for us mere mortals to eat with the plastic chopsticks, but I didn't mind having everything slipping and splashing all over the place.
  
  Even though we were stuffed from our light breakfast, my friend insisted on ordering some of the sweet tofu for us to try. It is mildly sweet in a warm broth, and the tofu broke apart easily with the soup spoon. It was tasty, but put me over the top.

  I grew up eating at Kim Su with my family and the experience is generally consistent. We only go here for dim sum and there's generally no wait unless it's a holiday, like Father's Day for example.
  
  Parking is usually hard to come by because they share a small lot in that strip mall, so try to carpool if you can. It usually takes us 15 - 20 minutes to park because the spots are so small and other drivers aren't exactly considerate when it comes to parking their cars within the lines.
  
  We normally order har gow, banh cuon tom, shiu mai, and boc chien. The size of the har gow has decreased over the years, but the food quality is still good!
  
  Pro tip: Have someone Vietnamese/Chinese order for your table if you want to receive decent service. Employees here don't speak much English and you're going to be frustrated if they can't understand you, so take my advice for less stress during breakfast.

  This is an OG spot and I haven't been here in like 2 decades, yea I'm old but still gold. Dim sum wasn't bad at all. Service was great and I love the hustle of the ladies there trying sell you everything. 3 stars for this spot and I'm not trying to be all that and dim sum, I have to leave room to rate 4 and 5 star places if I ever come across one. I'll leave it short and sweet, and add some hot sauce on it.
